PURSUING WHAT IS RARE
We are going through a period where we have ample time to get to know ourselves; to return to our essence and to become aware of what is happening around us. At the beginning of this period, while many ideas, whose map was not yet formed, were swirling in my mind, on the other hand, due to my profession, I felt compelled to keep up with and adapt to the rapidly growing consumer frenzy. When the long hours spent at home, the movements that had become so natural as to be a part of our daily routines, stopped, the voices inside me became more audible. My inner voice was saying:
I am Tüba Yıldız; I grew up in textile workshops, surrounded by fabrics. I watched every stage, from bobbin selection to the final ironing. I know the behind-the-scenes story of every textile product I touch. With constantly evolving fashion trends, accessibility, and of course, developing advertising opportunities, we are all striving to achieve things amidst great momentum. While nature is losing ground every day, fair production is disappearing, women still haven't reached the employment rates they deserve, and the fruits of brutal working hours appear before us in plastic bags, I must embark on a journey to experience a new path.
Heartish embraces sustainable fashion, social justice, women's employment, and ecological production, using eight locally produced fabrics and printing techniques from Türkiye. With our fashion philosophy that prioritizes social values, culture, and well-being, we aim to paint pictures that you will read. We laid the foundation for this journey, driven by the desire to make stories wearable, to ensure they are used and kept alive from generation to generation, in our workshop in Bodrum.
The fabrics that will be produced in our workshop, where only women work, are masterpieces created using natural dyeing techniques and minimal electricity, ranging from weaving looms to stone printing in Ödemiş, Gaziantep, Kastamonu, Keşan, Buldan, Antakya, Mardin, and Tokat. We started filming this production process step by step so you can witness it when you wear the fabric. On the other hand, we began meeting with young female designers who have made a name for themselves in the sector with their designs and achievements. Our idea, which was welcomed with joy by each of them, grew; our circle expanded. Now, Anatolia's unique production techniques are meeting with new generation and original designs.
Heartish's story begins in Gaziantep, at Kevser's weaving loom, in the rich land where kutnu fabric is woven with unique techniques. Our next stop is Aunt Serpil in Ödemiş. In the workshop in Bodrum, the sewing is entrusted to Sister Gül. Our first design is by Serra Hegewald! Pelin is eagerly awaiting the end of May. We are already 11 women at Heartish, and together we will witness it fulfilling its responsibility to the world. This responsibility is undertaken on behalf of all of us. Let's keep it alive together!
We are in pursuit of the rare, for a fairer, longer-lasting, and more joyful world.
