WHERE AM I?
Buldan Şile fabric, produced in the Buldan district of Denizli, has been used to create various garments since ancient times. Known for its ability to absorb body sweat, it is a healthy product that comes to life on weaving looms and serves as raw material for many different designs. Buldan Şile fabric is comfortable, lightweight, sweat-absorbent, and a healthy, natural garment with a wide range of uses. With a history dating back to 1332, Buldan Şile fabric is 30 to 60 cm wide and highly valuable. Thanks to the initiatives of the Buldan Natural Life Protection and Preservation Association, the district was selected as a pilot region by the Turkish Academy of Sciences. The region, famous for its fabric, mansions, stone streets, historical houses, the Süleymanlı plateau and lake, and its unique culinary traditions, attracts both domestic and foreign tourists. In Buldan, which is believed to have been founded in the 1200s, weaving masters have woven garments for Osman Gazi, shawls for Barbarossa, wedding dresses for the daughter of Yıldırım Beyazıt Han, and shirts for Genç Osman. The fact that the district is known for its woven caftans and fabrics, examples of which are still displayed in Topkapi Palace, and that it is mentioned in the travelogues of various travelers, calls for respect for history, sustainability, and nature.
